– Why this Program
Being a leader is hard work. In part, because in addition to your ongoing functional responsibilities, there are always ‘people’ issues you have to deal with, as well.
The fundamental truth is this: People cause problems! Without people, there would be far fewer problems with communications, teamwork, productivity, morale, cross-training, mistakes, confidence, and a near-infinite number of other mix-ups, mess-ups, and let-downs.
It’s almost as if that’s what they do for a living!
And whose job is it to handle all these problems? Yours! And how? By coaching and mentoring them back from the brink.
– Program Philosophy
Coaching and mentoring are increasingly important (read: essential) elements of a leader’s toolkit. But why are so few leaders particularly skilled at conducting such important (read: essential) conversations?
The main reason why more leaders don’t coach or mentor more effectively than they do is that they likely have never learned HOW. They were never taught. It’s like trying to navigate through a dark room that’s filled with sharp, pointy pieces of furniture – of course it’s going to feel uncomfortable!
But there’s a huge difference between INCAPABILITY and UNFAMILIARITY, and “How to Better F.R.A.M.E. Your Coaching and Mentoring Conversations” is designed to ‘turn on the lights’ so you can consistently have more relevant, meaningful, an impactful interactions with your staff.
– Program Objectives
Using our F.R.A.M.E. Model of Coaching and Mentoring, you will learn – and practice – what it takes to coach and mentor in more competent and engaging ways.
At the conclusion of “How to Better F.R.A.M.E. Your Coaching and Mentoring Conversations,” attendees should be able to:
- Stop avoiding important performance management conversations with your direct reports
- How to listen more deeply in your coaching and mentoring interactions
- Understand the clarity and perspective that coaching and mentoring brings, to BOTH sides of the conversation
- Feel far more comfortable and capable as a leader
“How to Better F.R.A.M.E. Your Coaching and Mentoring Conversations” can be customized and configured in a variety of formats (e.g. one day, two-day, multiple partial days, with or without follow-up or one-on-one leader coaching components) – it all depends on how deep you want to go in helping your people become more effective in their interactions with those they work with.
Each program includes the study of the F.R.A.M.E. conceptual framework, practice using it, debriefings on it, and group discussion about it.
