Topic: Coaching Helps People F.O.C.U.S. Here's How.

January Updates

Hope your New Year is getting off to a wonderful start, as is mine.

I've been working on a number of new and exciting things, including this new newsletter format. (BTW, if this wound up in your spam folder, please be sure to add my domain to your safe sender list.)

To that end, my website now has a significantly shorter URL – www.ldrtr.com – ldr (as in leader) tr (as in traction) dot com. You may want to practice typing it by checking out the offerings in my estore – www.ldrtr.com/estore – as I've got some pretty nice promotions going on right now so it might be worth taking a look-see!

In other news, I became certified to train and certify others to administer the Conflict Dynamics Profile-Individual (CDP-I) self- assessment tool. This is in addition to the certifications I earned several years ago to administer the CDP-I, and CDP-360°, myself.

I've got to say that it's really helped up my game with respect to the Conflict Competency work I do – it's amazing how powerful, and in many cases life-changing, as many of you can attest, my CDP-I debriefings have become. My Executive Intelligence coaching has been maturing in some wonderful ways, as well.

It's just so gratifying to still be growing as a coach, like this, so many years after being recognized as a Master Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation. (I started coaching full-time in 2000 and earned my MCC in 2007.) The MCC designation is considered the "Gold Standard" of professional coach credentialing, a distinction that fewer than 2% of all coaches, worldwide, have achieved.

Obviously, I'm convinced that coaching helps people. But do you know HOW coaching helps people? Do you know WHY coaching helps people? Let me tell you. It's because...

Coaching Helps People F.O.C.U.S.

  • F – FACE IT – whatever “it” happens to be.
  • O – OUTSMART THE UEs (“the ewww-ies”) – the Unhelpful Extremes.
  • C – CHOOSE MORE INTENTIONALLY – more consciously, purposefully, and discerningly.
  • U – UNLOCK POTENTIAL – through specific actions and activities that create and sustain irrefutable growth, progress, and momentum.
  • S – SOLIDIFY THE LEARNING – by helping them learn to better recognize their impact, take greater responsibility for that impact, and modify their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, accordingly.
The F.O.C.U.S. construct is part of my recently-revised coaching model, the LeadershipTraction Coaching F.R.A.M.E. of Reference.

F.R.A.M.E. "frames," if you will, what a coach must do to in order to coach exceptionally well – and what I strive to do each and every time I do what I do.

The LeadershipTraction® Coaching F.R.A.M.E. of Reference

  • F – F.O.C.U.S. EACH INTERACTION – in increasingly relevant, and powerful, ways.
  • R – RESPOND STRATEGICALLY – respectfully; collaboratively; engagingly; purposefully.
  • A – ASK INTRIGUING QUESTIONS – to induce clarity, discernment, choice, and drive.
  • M – MONITOR PROGRESS – acknowledging efforts made and outcomes enabled…or not.
  • E – ENCOURAGE CONTINUED F.O.C.U.S. – inviting further exploration of one’s goals, objectives, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, challenges, self-limiting beliefs, and such.

My wish for you in 2014

My wish for you, in 2014, is that you approach whatever you do with increasing F.O.C.U.S. and clarity.

And should someone talk with you about wanting to deepen or accelerate their own growth and development, or impact and influence, I hope you'll tell them about me, what I do, and how I would F.R.A.M.E. my work with them so they could better F.O.C.U.S., like you. That would be awesome!

Thanks.

P.S.

I recently added an automated Leadership Quote of the Day feature to my blog at www.ldrtr.com/blog, in addition to several new posts for the month. Maybe one of them will inspire you to greater things before you get my next newsletter. That'd be awesome, too, wouldn't it?!

Now go do something truly outstanding, yes?!
